About the Developer
Who Built It?
I’m Matt Birch—the developer behind ScoreGenius and a lifelong sports fan. I live and work in Virginia, where a background in sports journalism evolved into more than a decade of building full-stack, data-driven software.
That path began in Richmond, where I attended Virginia Commonwealth University. It’s where storytelling, analytics, and technology first converged for me—and where the foundation for building products like ScoreGenius was laid.
Who I Am
I’ve lived in every region of Virginia and have been a sports fan my entire life. Both shape how I think about products—tools should respect the moment, enhance the experience, and stay out of the way while the action unfolds.
Outside of code, I recharge through simple rituals: good coffee, training, time outdoors, and the occasional beach day. That balance keeps me focused, curious, and ready to tackle complex problems with a clear head.
Why ScoreGenius?
I built ScoreGenius to give fans transparent, data-driven insights without the noise that dominates traditional sports media. Every prediction, chart, and snapshot is powered by an end-to-end data pipeline I designed and maintain myself—from ingestion and modeling to delivery in the app.
The product is built for fans first. That principle guides everything: a lightweight interface, fast-loading injury and weather data, and ML-driven score predictions that surface meaningful context without overwhelming the user. Whether you’re casually checking a matchup or digging into head-to-head trends, ScoreGenius is designed to be intuitive, responsive, and useful at any level.
