Who Built It?

Hey there! I’m Matt Birch... the developer and lifelong sports fan behind ScoreGenius. I live and work in Virginia, where my background as a sportswriter aligns with over a decade of full-stack software development experience.

And a lot of it started in Richmond—where I attended Virginia Commonwealth University—my second home.

Who I Am

I’ve lived in every region of Virginia and have been a sports fan my entire life. Both are important to me, which is why I build tools that help entertain fans while enjoying the action on the field (or court).

Outside of code, I’m probably sipping coffee or chasing the next outdoor adventure: hiking, lifting weights, or hitting the beach. These rituals keep me curious, energized, and ready to build the next cool thing.

Why ScoreGenius?

I launched this sports-analytics PWA to give fans transparent, data-driven insights without the noise—unlike traditional media. Every prediction, chart, and snapshot is powered by a pipeline I architected myself—soup to nuts.

This app truly is for the fans. This mantra drives everything—from a lightweight user interfacve to stadium-level weather forecasts and injury reports that load instantly. The ML-driven score predictions, stats and head-to-head breakdowns are displayed for all skill levels: from beginners to seasoned pros. Anyone can use ScoreGenius.

Come say hi! Feedback, project ideas, or chicken parm recipes—I'm here for all of it.
